tell.me.sth.new! explores the transformative power of cutting. The interdisciplinary dance performance is inspired by the autobiographical stories of four people who responded to a call for information on the topic of identity change and clothing. Together, the team creates a fictitious experiential space that examines the relationship between identity, transformation and clothing in terms of a social skin. tell.me.sth.new! understands life stories as fluid entities that we constantly retell to ourselves and others.
About the production
In tell.me.sth.new, Julia Klockow stages performative hybrid creatures from the life paths of the storytellers, her own biography and cultural information. Through the interplay of different intensities of figurative representation and performative moments, she reveals that the real is always present in the theatre space and the fictional is also always present in the real. In a dance-like, dissecting process, tell.me.sth.new! tells of the energy-sapping, birthing and liberating processes of transformation and identity formation that seem to be a never-ending process in the modern world.
